As many have known intuitively, an atmosphere permeated with intelligent love bathes cells and organs in health promoting hormones. Companion hearts entrain for mutual support, while the heart accesses unseen fields of information. This it sends to the part of the brain, until recently called “silent”, which is now recognized as the seat of higher intelligence. Science is revealing this heart/brain feedback loop to be the living interchange that ignites brilliance.

THE CONFLUENCE OF SCIENCE AND PHILOSOPHY
We are living during a wonderful time, at the propitious confluence of the science of the heart/brain system and the philosophy of the integrated body/mind/spirit complex. Even as the Harmonies Way Process honors our historical heritage of great thoughts, this and similar approaches are fortified by a rapidly growing body of research. Some of the most important breakthroughs on the planet are pouring in from The Institute of HeartMath (the science of the heart), The Rothman Institute (the prefrontal cortex), Masaru Emoto (Messages in Water), William Tiller (psychoenergetic science). Konstantin Korotkov (resonant relationships between plants and people), Candice Pert (Wired for Bliss). Paradigm-changing insights into physiology and energetic resonances between living entities confirm the urgency of restoring the rights and privileges of childhood to children. In the scope of the heart’s radiance, primitive, constraining measures yield to life-affirming systems of immersion.
A THUMBNAIL SKETCH
Following is a thumbnail sketch of the insights that position the heart at the center of child development.
The first organ to form in the developing fetus is the heart. As new organs form, so do corresponding communication links with the heart. Importantly, this communication system includes the brain.
Research at the Institute of HeartMath has proven this communication to be multidimensional, including at least 4 types of communication:

- Energetic
When the mother nurses her baby and holds him/her close, their hearts entrain, beating in coherent bliss.

As the child grows, his heart’s electromagnetic field extends beyond the body with verifiable power that exceeds that of the brain.
As the toddler roughs in the emotional climate and sensory wonders of his world, the fourth and most human part of the brain, the prefrontal cortex, undergoes a rapid growth spurt. Stimulating resonances between living kingdoms and persons, and intriguing opportunities to taste, touch, smell, hear, and see provide the impetus for the growth of this forth cortex. Via communication links, the information processing systems of the heart and brain inform the prefrontal cortex. Nature optimizes this development through child’s play and the magnetic proximity of adult mentors engaged in interesting work.
Throughout this process, the engrossing exercise of childhood imagination provides the calisthenics for the adult capacity to envision new possibilities.
Together, the heart and left and right brain inform the creative, innovative, empathic intelligence of the frontal lobes.

Just as the mother provided the first energetic and physical womb, nature, family and community provide the next womb.
