Food Co-ops at RMCLE

Dominion Farms Healthy Meat and Eggs Co-op

In 2002, a group of families started ordering healthy eggs and meats directly from a local farm.  Dominion Farms is a small, sustainable family farm that raises chickens, cows and pigs the way nature intended.  They don't use pesticides, herbicides, hormones, or antibiotics.  The animals are on pasture in fresh air and sunshine.  They are eating the foods their bodies are designed to eat.

Scientific studies tells us that foods from animals raised in this manner are much healthier.  By ordering as a group, we get healthier foods at a reduced cost and delivery to one location.

Dominion Farms process their meat when the animals are at their peak nutrition/health.  Once processed, they are frozen in sealed packages and kept in a zero degree freezer until delivery.

We have ordered eggs and meats from Steve at Dominion for a year now.  Paypal payments are coming soon! We feel blessed having fresh, local eggs and meats. For more information, please contact DeeDee at DLynnMom23@sprintpcs.com.

Even Steven Organic Produce Co-op

Community and cooperation are key components of the philosophy at the Center for Living Ethics. Working collectively, the families and staff of the Center are forging wider paths for our children to travel. It is this same common unity which serves as the basis for the Even Steven Organic Produce Cooperative. By pooling our commitment to healthy foods along with financial resources, we are able to bring a wide variety of organic produce into our homes and our learning center.

The Even Steven Organic Produce Cooperative is run by volunteers from the Center for Living Ethics. Families participating in ESOPC contribute a set amount (cash or check made payable to Center for Living Ethics) for each order by the payment deadline. From this fund, RMCLE purchases organic produce in large quantities at wholesale prices twice a month. Once the completed order is received, it is divided equally, or even steven, among all those contributing to the fund.

At this time, there are no membership fees for RMCLE families to join the co-op. We also welcome people from outside the RMCLE community to join Even Steven. Non-RMCLE families will be charged a $5 service fee for each order. This money goes directly to the school to help with operations.

Please note RMCLE is a 501(c)3 nonprofit school and your $5 fee is tax deductible. Tax ID Number is available upon request.

Delivery day begins with families leaving coolers at the center. The entire coop's order is delivered in the morning. Once the produce has been checked for freshness, volunteers begin distributing it one case at a time, putting equal amounts in each cooler. Orders are ready for pick up at the end of the school day. When families pick up their children, they will also find their orders of fresh organic produce, ripe and ready to go home.

The Center for Living Ethics is a non-profit educational facility that survives because of the families involved in its community. The main reason for the existence of the Even Steven Organic Produce Co-op is to give back to the community and to ensure that RMCLE supporters have access to affordable, organic produce.

By providing this service to families outside the RMCLE community, we continue to glean support for organic farmers and sustainable farming practices. In the end, our children, our families, our bodies, our community, and our Earth profit from this community action.
