The enlightened learning community focuses on collective modeling of a gestalt of healthy pursuits, establishing right human relations, and consciously contributing to a universal culture. The new era school is not just a place to send the children for academic study, but a cultural center of conscientious role models and mentors. The roles of teachers and parents become complementary and boundary lines blur and fade, becoming more of a flowing together of streams of energy. A cultural community can be a place where people relax by rediscovering the child in themselves as they knit, mold pottery, explore in the science lab, invent together, play musical instruments, folk dance, practice yoga, garden, tend a few farm animals, and tell stories. The exciting challenge is to weave the isolated strands of information we have inherited from twentieth century academia into consilience, the unity of knowledge. |
